19 emergency call - outs amid flash-flood in Broken Hill - ABC News

People have been rescued from their cars amid a spate of flash flooding in far-west NSW.

The Broken Hill State Emergency Service received 19 call-outs yesterday afternoon.

Police closed off part of Williams Street, a major trucking route, and the SES sandbagged some laneways and streets.

Service controller Steve Moore says the weather conditions came with little warning.

"We weren't expecting it at all," he said.
