Cars and homes have been damaged and thousands of properties have lost power after strong winds lashed Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
Fallen trees closed roads and the Blue Mountains rail line and the State Emergency Service (SES) responded to hundreds of calls to wind-related incidents on Monday.
Endeavour Energy said more than 3,000 properties, predominantly in western Sydney, were still without electricity about 6:00pm (AEDT) after power was restored to more than 9,000 customers on Monday afternoon.
"We peaked at about 12,000 [properties without power] due to the very strong westerlies," spokesman Peter Payne said.
