Embracing new top role - Tweed Daily News
by | June 9, 2015
HIS sister's death in a car accident was the catalyst for Mark Cowan to sign up for the Rural Fire Service (RFS) nearly 30 years ago.
Volunteering for the emergency services is now a way of life for the Banora Point resident.
His decades of service and experience were recognised two months ago when he was named the new controller of the Murwillumbah State Emergency Service (SES).
His path to the top job started in 1999 when Mr Cowan also signed up as a volunteer for the SES, which is stationed next door to the Murwillumbah RFS base, which he remains a member of.
