Gloucester on Flood Watch - Gloucester Advocate

by | April 20, 2015

THE State Emergency Service (SES) has issued a Flood Watch for the Manning, Gloucester and Karuah catchment areas during the next two days.

The bureau is predicting minor to moderate flooding in the Manning Valley, including Gloucester and Karuah Valley, including Bulahdelah, with very heavy rain predicted.

The rain may be heavy enough to cause localised flooding in low-lying areas, as well as causing tributary creeks to break their banks.

  • Farmers are advised to monitor the weather and be ready to move their livestock, pumps and other equipment away from rising waters.
  • Oyster lease operators are advised to monitor the river for possible rises and be ready to move equipment.

If the weather system intensifies, flooding could develop along the Manning, Myall, Gloucester and Avon Rivers.

The bureau will issue Flood Warnings along with the SES who will release flood bulletins to inform the public of the situation and what people should do to protect their family and property.

For emergency help in floods and storms, call theSES on 132 500.
