Hundreds lose power in the winds - Western Advocate
by Jo Johnson | October 18, 2013
BATHURST State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers are on stand-by to assist with the fire effort at Lithgow.
While members are readying to join Rural Fire Service crews in a logistical capacity today, they were kept busy in Bathurst yesterday as strong winds swept through the city.
SES volunteers attended at least five calls for help throughout the day, two of which required the assistance of Essential Energy.
Around lunchtime, a tree branch fell on live wires near Bathurst Golf Course on the corner of Blayney Road and Boundary Road. Some 1600 properties across Bathurst lost power as a result.
FIRE CRISIS: Over 90 firefighters are still battling the blaze near Lithgow.
