Hybrid SES team wins inaugural Classic Cut competition - Rouse Hill Courier
The hybrid team of Hawkesbury and Parramatta SES were the winners of the SES’ inaugural Classic Cut competition at the weekend.
Volunteers in pairs were given a list of specific styles of cuts they needed to make to wood.
‘‘It was cutting the thinnest slither from the end of a log; there was also a box cut challenge,’’ SES acting region learning development officer, Brad Dousha said.
The judges were SES acting deputy region controller George Jeoffreys and Parramatta SES member Tony Khoury.
The competition was held at Lisdale State Forest as part of the SES’s annual Chainsaw Classic — a weekend-long event for SES Sydney Western Region volunteers who got to hone their chainsaw skills in both cross cut (already fallen trees) and felling/falling (cutting a tree down).
