- find out how we can access training in 2023.
Mental Health Risk

We know that volunteer emergency service workers have a greater chance of experiencing negative mental health compared to our professional counterparts as we:
o are more likely to know the victims,
o are engaged in high pressure, high stress situations over longer periods and
o don’t have access to as much post disaster social support.

Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grant
The Government is investing in the development of a mental health and safety program targeted at local emergency service team leaders and deputy leaders referred to as the First Responder Resilience Program [FRRP].
Using a train the trainer approach, the program will build sustainable mental health leadership capability within each Local Government Area [LGA] across New South Wales. Helping to minimise the negative psychological impacts of major emergency and disaster events and increase individual psychological resilience in volunteers.
The program focuses on developing leaders that are:
Curious – reach in and identify potential problems before they become critical,
Confident – understand mental health and are capable of initiating healthy conversations, and
Connected – actively build relationships across the community.
Hope to see you there!
Kind Regards
