EVACUATIONS, mayhem on the roads and a woman struck by lightning while standing outside her home came with the storms tearing through the Hunter yesterday.
Hail the size of macadamia nuts caused damage in Port Macquarie, wind gusts exceeding 100km/h hit Murrurundi and 22millimetres of rain fell on Newcastle.
By 6pm, the SES had received 90 callouts for help with deputy region controller Ken Speers saying it was mainly for fallen trees and roof damage.
