Heather and Neville O'Malley, from the northern New South Wales village of Tabulam, have fostered 220 children in 31 years.

They had their first and only child, Jody, 40 years ago and discovered they could not have any more biological children.

However, Ms O'Malley said she wanted more than one child and decided to become a foster parent.

"We just love kids and Neville and I are both from large families," she said.
