Official fundraising for SES Volunteers resumes

by | May 8, 2015

The NSW SES Volunteers Association, the only organisation authorised by the NSW State Emergency Service to fundraise on behalf of its volunteers, today announced it would recommence call centre-based raffle ticket sales – its main source of income – in Sydney's suburbs.

"SES volunteers have been overwhelmed in recent weeks, not only by demands placed on them by severe storms and flooding, but by the support of the community," said Charlie Moir, NSW SES VA President.

"As president of the organisation set up to support volunteer members of the SES who so freely give their time to support their communities in times of need, I could not be more proud," he said.

In order to better protect the public from unauthorised fundraising, the NSW SES VA temporarily suspends raffle ticket sales in areas affected by significant weather events.

"Because people have been asking how they can support SES volunteers, the VA has decided to again allow its telephone call centre to begin raffle ticket sales in Sydney suburban areas so community members can continue to show their support," he said.

Funds raised enable the NSW SES VA to provide volunteers with a number of support schemes including grants, scholarships and a welfare fund.

The NSW SES Volunteers Association, established in 1998, is a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.

The VA welcomes anyone with questions about any of its fundraising activities, including donations and bequests, to contact it directly by email office@nswsesva.org.au or calling 1 3000 SESVA | 1300 073 782 | 02 8002 2306.
