Operation Orange takes Darling Harbour by Storm - NSW SES
Throughout Saturday, Darling Harbour at Cockle Bay will feature a series of live flood rescue demonstrations from NSW SES Volunteer Swift Water Technicians, an interactive exhibition complete with a dunk tank and other fun games and displays for people to enjoy as volunteers from the NSW SES race around Darling Harbour conducting their annual competition fondly known as Operation Orange – Checkpoint Challenge.
“The competition is a fun way for our volunteers to keep their NSW SES skills sharp and well maintained for use when real-time emergency situations occur” said Anthia Kollaras, Operation Orange organiser and NSW SES Waverley/Woollahra Unit Volunteer. “It’s also a team building exercise that helps our volunteers strengthen team mate relationships which is a key factor in our rescue teams performing at their best during flood and storm emergencies” continues Ms Kollaras “Working as a team during emergencies is extremely important” she reinforces.
