SES expects mid north coast storm clean-up to continue into tonight - Weatherzone
The State Emergency Service SES said the clean-up of the severe storm that hit the mid north coast yesterday, Tuesday October 29, is expected continue into tonight.
High winds, heavy rain and large hail brought down trees, power lines, and damaged roofs.
The SES deputy regional controller Tony Day said almost 60 homes suffered storm damage around Port Macquarie.
He said repairs there are finished, and the focus is now on Tea Gardens and Hawkes News.
"With over 40 calls for assistance received there during the afternoon, into the night and then again this morning," he said.
"We're currently deploying a number of resources from Wauchope, Wingham, Harrington and Nabiac and Forster-Pacific Palms into the Tea Gardens-Hawkes Nest area to assist the Karuah Valley unit in responding to all of those jobs.
"Multiple reports of trees down, trees threatening homes, damage to roofs and water damage to property.
"Other emergency services are working in that area to ensure that we clear this backlog. Country Energy is working down there and of course the local government authority."
