SES rescue crews save man injured at Bangalore Falls - The Coffs Coast Advocate

UPDATE - MONDAY 9.00AM: DENSE rainforest and steep terrain were challenges helicopter crews, police officers, SES crew members and paramedics overcame to rescue an injured man who fell down a steep rock face.

The incident at Bangalore Falls near Brooklana reportedly happened after the man was abseiling a cliff via a walking track off Range Road.

About 12 hours after the alarm was first raised, the man was found.

Having located the man, a doctor and paramedic were winched down to the victim's location before and moving him to another location downstream where he was stabilised then winched to the helicopter and flown directly to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

The man was said to be suffering a head injury, chest injury and fractured ribs.

The man's companions, a man and woman were understood to have been suffering dehydration and were given food and water by rescue crews.
