SES sends out an SOS for people to heed flood warnings during an emergency - ABC News
by By Emma Simkin | May 21, 2015
The Minister for Emergency Services has paid tribute to the tireless efforts of the SES volunteers during the recent storm event in New South Wales.
Wyong was one of the worst affected regions in the state, where 83 SES members worked during the April storms, committing 5000 hours and attending to 2583 jobs.
"We have called this a once in a decade storm, but there were actually parts of the region that had the highest levels of rain in a century," said David Elliott.
While the Minister praised the work of the volunteers, he lamented the attitude of some members of the public during the emergency, with 170 flood rescues.
