SES volunteers test the waters at Lake Oberon - Oberon Review

by | October 3, 2013

LAST Sunday, local State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers took to the waters of Lake Oberon in preparation for the opening of the lake to kayaks, canoes and electric powered boats this weekend.

SES rescue volunteers took to the water to familiarise themselves with their new rescue boat and some of the lake’s hazards.

The SES rescue boat will return to the water this Saturday as part of the official opening of the dam.

If anyone is interested in joining this group of highly motivated, community minded volunteers, members will be on hand at the event to answer questions.

Or, the unit meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm at the headquarters on Lowes Mount Road.

Recently, the Oberon unit purchased two sets of night vision goggles and an infrared camera to assist with their search and rescue capabilities on both land and water.
