by James Beech | April 22, 2015

A WOMAN driver was rescued from her car this morning when it stopped in the middle of the flooded Bexley Rd this morning.

Flood rescue operators from the SES NSW Canterbury Unit responded to the flood alarm sounding on Bexley Rd at Wolli Creek about 8.45am and found the woman’s car floating and the flood water rising.

Unit Local Controller Lenore Nelson said the woman driver, aged in her 30s, attempted to drive through the flood water when a truck drove through the water in the opposite direction. The bow water from the truck engulfed the car up to the level of its windows.

The driver was rescued from her car by three flood rescue operators using specialised equipment including throw ropes to grab hold of.
