Thieves stole kit thought to be worth thousands of dollars from ACT emergency services crews helping to clean up after wild weather battered parts of NSW.
Four NSW SES trucks and an ACT SES vehicle were targeted as volunteers slept at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Pokolbin overnight on Thursday.
The ACT crew, which appeared to be the hardest hit, lost a chainsaw, power saw, pump, jerry cans and hand tools.
ACT taskforce commander Paul Cortese told The Newcastle Herald: "It is a pain in the neck, the guys felt gutted when they got to their vehicles this morning.
