WEATHER UPDATE: Flood alert for Bulahdelah River and Wallis Lakes - Great Lakes Advocate
NSW SES Mid North Coast has issued a flood alert for the Bulahdelah River and Wallis Lakes.
SES Region Controller Stephen Hart issued the warning this afternoon saying the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts very heavy rain in the catchments of the Karuah Valley and Wallis Lakes (Forster/Tuncurry) that could lead to minor flooding.
"If this weather system intensifies, flooding could develop along the Wallis Lakes. If so, the Bureau will issue Flood Warnings along with the State Emergency Service who will release Flood Bulletins to tell you about the situation and what you should do to protect your family and property. Please listen carefully to these bulletins."He says the rain may be heavy enough to cause localised flooding in low-lying areas, as well as causing tributary creeks to break their banks.
EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON: The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted that severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones and damaging winds this afternoon (October 13)
