The NSW SES Volunteers Association is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 1998, to benefit the thousands of volunteer NSW SES members.

We are a registered charity and run a Welfare Fund for members suffering financial hardship.  Our fund has deductible gift recipient status.

We represent our members in many forums, look after their welfare and wellbeing and provide recognition through a variety of programs including individual scholarships, professional development opportunities, Unit grants, benefits programs and special projects.

NSW SES Volunteers Association Stands by Volunteers Amidst Resignation of Commissioner

While the resignation of NSW SES Commissioner Mark Smethurst was announced on Friday 8th March, 2019, the NSW SES Volunteers Association said it’s business as usual for the volunteers in orange.

“We have requested an urgent meeting with the Minister and Shadow Minister for Emergency Services to discuss the current situation with the NSW SES but the 9000 plus volunteers of the NSW SES will still respond to calls for help from their communities, still put on their orange overalls and will still provide a professional and highly skilled emergency service to people in need.” President Kim Davis said.

“Stability in the Service is what we are hoping for, and we are happy that an announcement was made regarding Mr Smethurst’s replacement in an acting capacity. We are looking forward to meeting with Mr Stewart to ensure volunteers are supported in their emergency response roles.”

“Our volunteers are our most valuable asset and we hope that the appointment of a permanent Commissioner will be a priority for the Government.” Ms Davis said.

The NSW SES Volunteers Association advocates for the volunteers of the NSW SES as well as providing welfare and hardship support, training opportunities, professional development and grants.

The Association has support services in place for NSW SES volunteers affected by this situation.

End.
