Eighty-kilometre an hour winds kept hundreds of SES officers very busy across western Sydney from before 3pm yesterday till the early hours of this morning.
One of the worst affected areas was the Hills district where nine teams of about 30 volunteers were called to remove fallen trees from houses, fences, cars, roads, driveways and backyards.
Hills SES controller Evelyn Lester said they attended more than 40 jobs in Dural, Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill, North Rocks, Kenthurst and West Pennant Hills.
