AN Annangrove man had a lucky escape when he was nearly crushed by a falling tree branch on Sunday.

Hills SES controller Evelyn Lester said the man had just got out of the passenger seat about 11am and was guiding the driver of the truck 250 metres up a residential driveway when a branch fell on the roof of the truck.

If the passenger had been inside he would have been crushed, Ms Lester said.

‘‘The SES team who assisted had just finished their Tour de Hills sector when we received the call,’’ she said.

Three support safety vehicles with eight members, and one command vehicle were based at Rouse Hill during the Tour de Hills Bicycle Classic.

‘‘Everything went really well, even though they had the whole mixed weather,’’ Ms Lester said.

She said The Hills Council also attended a flooding incident on the weekend.

‘‘A house in North Rocks was experiencing some garage flooding,’’ she said.

‘‘Council were quick to the mark and were able to clear the drainage.’’

Hills SES will hold an information night for volunteers on March 19, 8pm at Building 20, 92 Seven Hills Road, Baulkham Hills. RSVP to Evelyn Lester, 9639 3434.
