Batten down the hatches and get ready for storm season - The Daily telegraph
by By Rebecca Franks | July 29, 2014
THE sun is shining but recent wild winds, storms and heavy rain across Sydney could be a sign of things to come as the State Emergency Service gears up for a busy summer.
Storm season runs from October to March with between 50 and 150 severe thunderstorms each year and the SES spends 90,000 hours responding to 12,000 call outs across NSW.
In 2013, Sutherland Shire was badly hit while St Clair was Sydney’s fourth most storm-affected suburb followed by Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills and Blacktown, according to data from NRMA Insurance.\
