Dungog:'This flood was very different' - Newcastle Herald
by By Donna Page | May 22, 2015
DUNGOG'S State Emergency Service unit was undermanned when last month's devastating floods swept through the town.
According to the SES, the unit has eight volunteer members, but the Newcastle Herald understands only five were able to respond on the morning of the disaster and one was a non-field administration worker.
Four of the five are members of two Dungog families and the remaining person is the volunteer controller. One of the volunteers was only in Dungog on the morning of the floods because he was visiting relatives.
The unit changed control in January when the long-standing boss stood down for health reasons.
