Flood advice for businesses - Gloucester Advocate
GLOUCESTER SES will hold a free flood seminar for businesses in the CBD on Wednesday, October 30.
The seminar will be held at the SES headquarters in Tate St from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and will include a barbecue.
The SES encourages business owners and members of the community to come and meet the local volunteers, tour the facility and obtain information on how to prepare for future floods in the Gloucester area.
Gloucester and surrounds have a long history of flooding.
Particularly severe floods occurred in 1929 and 1978 with major floods in 1956, 1957, 1974 and 1976 as well the minor flooding that occurred in March this year.
“The aim of the afternoon is to allow business owners to get to know their local NSW SES and provide them with information on how to be prepared for future floods in terms of reducing stock losses, minimising lost trading hours and maintaining the safety of employees,” Gloucester SES unit controller Bruce Sun said.
Businesses wishing to attend the barbecue are asked to RSVP by calling the NSW SES Mid North Coast region headquarters on 6592 5800 or email mnr.admin@one.ses.nsw.gov.au
