Flood warnings for North East NSW - NSW SES

by | July 29, 2014

Very heavy rain overnight has resulted in three flood warnings being issued this morning for minor to moderate flooding in north east New South Wales. Falls of in excess of 250mm have fallen, particularly in the Tweed, Wilsons and Brunswick River valleys. The weather is expected to ease today and the severe weather warning has been cancelled.

The warnings are for:

·          Brunswick River – minor flooding

·          Tweed River – minor to moderate flooding

·          Wilsons River – minor flooding

A Flood Watch was updated this morning with possible minor flooding expected on the lower Namoi River valley. Further information on rainfall and river heights is available here: www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings

People who live and work along the areas affected should lift pumps and relocate livestock and equipment to higher ground. Local road closures are in effect in areas of the north east and drivers should not enter floodwater and find an alternate route.
