WHEN you join the NSW SES you become part of a team of professional volunteers who share your commitment to helping your community. Friendships form through commitment and training together. But it's not all serious; many units hold regular social events such as camping, dinners and family get-togethers.

There are many roles the NSW SES volunteers can choose to do including; administration, planning, training, community engagement, response operations, communications, logistics, media and other support roles. Opportunities exist for people from diverse backgrounds and abilities.

NSW SES provides basic training when you join and further training in all specialised roles. There are also opportunities to travel across the state helping out people and supporting SES members in other communities that are heavily impacted by severe weather events.
