How to cope when a severe storm hits

Afternoon thunderstorms in summer are a common occurrence in New South Wales, but they can pose a threat to property and life. The SES has a few simple tips for how to cope before and during a severe storm.
Watching a thunderstorm develop with its billowing clouds of black and grey can be a mesmerising scene to watch.
While these weather events are a somewhat 'normal' part of summer life, they can wreak havoc and devastation across communities in NSW.
