Kanangra-Boyd National Park: Hopes fade for missing bushwalker Sevak Simonian - The Illawarra Mercur

by Naomi White | October 30, 2014

POLICE have told the family of a bushwalker missing in dense wilderness near Oberon they don’t hold out much hope of finding him alive.

Sevak Simonian’s car was found parked down the end of a dirt track leading off Kanangra Rd in the Kanangra Walls area of Kanangra-Boyd National Park, near Oberon, on October 24.

Police believe the 21-year-old has been missing in the park since the early morning of October 21, but a co-ordinated land and air search by police, police rescue, NSW Ambulance, RFS, SES and experienced volunteers from bushwalking groups have failed to find any trace of him.

“We’ve informed the family we don’t believe there’s much hope in finding him safe and well, unless he’s … found himself near a clean water supply,” Inspector Colin Cracknell from Oberon Police said yesterday.
