Lightning sparks blaze in Kellyville, family evacuated - The Daily Telegraph
A FAMILY of six were lucky to escape injury after their Kellyville home was struck by lightning at the peak of last night’s storm.
The home in Janamba Ave was hit just after 9pm, sparking a fire in the roof.
The house is owned by a NSW Ambulance officer, who was on duty at Parramatta at the time of the lightning strike.
Emergency services said the house was well alight when they arrived.
NSW Ambulance inspector Brian Parsell said he received the call from his fellow paramedic who asked him to check on his family’s welfare.
“The wife and four kids were upstairs in the bedrooms when it happened,” he said.
“The fire started in the roof and the roof then collapsed.
“The only things that they have are the clothes on their backs. Everything else is trashed.”
