A PREGNANT woman was among seven people hospitalised after a three-car crash on the Pacific Hwy at Glenugie on Saturday.

Just after 1pm three vehicles collided in heavy holiday traffic near the Wooli turn-off, causing chaos for several hours as police, ambulance paramedics and SES volunteers worked to get the injured to hospital.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the 32-week pregnant woman suffered a loss of consciousness following the crash and was urgently treated by paramedics.

He said the other injuries were mainly abdominal and pelvic and one patient suffered a broken arm.

Three of those injured in the crash were transported to hospital in Grafton, but it's believed a bed shortage at that facility meant four other patients were taken to the Coffs Harbour Health Campus.

The accidents caused long delays with the highway choked with holiday traffic.

"The best advice I can give is for motorists to slow down and be patient," Coffs Clarence LAC crime manager Inspector Brendan Gorman said.
