Safe and sounds after successful River Festival - Guardian News

by By Owen Rushton | July 29, 2014

THE RIVER Festival at Macksville was highly successful over the weekend.

Large crowds, plenty of entertainment and great music, saw the river banks filled to capacity.

The spectacular lantern display and the fireworks had the crowd very vocal and searching for a great viewing spot.

Ours and SES’s role was simply to keep an eye on the river traffic and ensure all the participants in the water sports were kept safe.

The skiing, canoeing, fishing and sailing demonstrations plus the Dragon Racing proved to be popular and highlighted the diversity of the use of our river.

The organisers of the event should take a bow for undertaking such a massive logistical operation and pulling it off, even with the weather conditions, first year running.

With this year’s event so successful, one wonders just what we have to look forward to in future years.

Our final boat licence evening will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 6pm.

Anyone who requires a boat licence should book with Macksville Ex-Services Club on 6568-1344.
