THE man in the big red suit has teamed up with our heroes in orange overalls - the State Emergency Service - to spread the Christmas joy this weekend.

Santa Claus and his little helpers will jump aboard Santa's 'sleigh' - a State Emergency Service flood boat - and motor around the Clarence.

They will visit Grafton, Yamba and Wooli, and rumour has it, they'll be helped by a few reindeer and elves along the way.

Grafton City SES unit controller Wally Bridle said he and his crew were proud to be spreading the joy this festive season.

"It's a community service... we normally meet people in stressful situations, but this will be a much lighter and happy chance to meet the community.

"Seeing the smiles on the kids' faces is the best part," Mr Bridle said.

Mr Claus said he was looking forward to meeting the kids and their parents.

He said he might even have some lollies in his Santa sack to hand out on during his tour around the region this weekend.
