by | October 16, 2014

Police have called off a search for two teenagers missing in bushland near Campbelltown, more than three days after they were last seen.

The two 14-year-olds were involved in a police pursuit from Bradbury to Banooke Way in Airds, with the pair driving a stolen black BMW at the time.

Robert Whitfield and Deng Lual fled into bushland about 11.30am on Monday, with police officer, the dog unit and Polair all called in to search for the boys.

About 8.50pm on Monday, one of the boys called his mother to tell her they were lost, and police were able to narrow down a search area within the reserve based on the call location.

Police, the SES, Rural Fire Service, Volunteer Rescue Association and the NSW Ambulance Service extensively searched the area near Keith Longhurst Reserve off Georges River Gorge in the days that followed, with no sign of the teens.

On Thursday afternoon, the ground search was called off after all likely locations were searched either by  ground-based or aerial search teams.

Robert Whitfield is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Island appearance, 150cm tall with a thin build, short brown shaved hair and brown eyes.

His friend Deng Lual is described as being of African appearance with a dark complexion, 155 – 160cm tall with a thin build, short dark hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on their welfare or whereabouts is asked to call triple-0 immediately.
