by By Tracey Findlay | July 29, 2014
EMERGENCY service crews worked into the early hours of the morning responding to calls for help from the wild weather that struck northern Sydney.
Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai SES volunteers responded to more than 100 tree-related jobs overnight.
Trees fell on roofs and across powerlines, driveways and onto cars.
Hornsby SES spokesman John Goh said they had three teams out until about 1.30am, assisted by SES crews from other areas and Rural Fire Service volunteers.
"Quite a bit of tarping work had to be done," he said.
Ku-ring-gai SES operations officer Derek Archer said the ferocity of the winds took them by surprise.
