SES member receives rare honour - Miton Ulladulla Times

by | July 29, 2014

ULLADULLA SES member John Clarke has been given a rare honour.

NSW SES Acting Commissioner Jim Smith recently paid a surprise visit to the local SES unit, and presented Mr Clarke with a certificate of appreciation for his hard work and dedication in promoting the Stormsafe Week and SES Week, culminating in Wearing Orange to Work Wednesday, or WOW Day.

The day was so successful that the unit was named second in the state for its promotion.

When he heard Mr Smith was visiting the local unit, Mr Clarke said he expected it would have something to do with the way Ulladulla embraced WOW Day.

He said he had no idea it would be to deliver personal recognition.

“I was very honoured,” he said.

“However we achieved that success as a unit.”

Members of the Ulladulla SES unit, along with staff from regional headquarters, attended the presentation to Mr Clarke, the local unit’s community engagement officer.
