SES officers want residents to prepare themselves for a violent storm expected to his this afternoon
by | October 14, 2014
A deluge of heavy rain — as much 150mm in some areas — is expected to hit the southwest this afternoon.
Authorities are warning residents to prepare their homes and take care on the roads.
Meteorologist at the BOM, Amy Cantour said a severe weather warning had been issued and estimated the storm would hit at about 3pm.
She said damaging winds, of up to 110km/h were likely to lash the coast and strong gusts of about 60km/h would whip inland areas — such as Fairfield.
“The message we should be getting out there is conditions on the roads will be dangerous with poor visibility, as a result of very heavy rain” Ms Cantour said.
