THE SES will continue the clean-up from Tuesday's wild weather with 98 calls for help from a total of 740 still outstanding.

More than 50 are in metropolitan Sydney, with 38 jobs in southern Sydney, 13 in northern Sydney (including the Central Coast), and four in western Sydney.

There are 23 jobs still to be attended on the mid-north coast which copped the brunt of the rain associated with the storms along with the Central Coast.

Gosford had the most rain with 30.6mm falling at Gosford since 9am on Tuesday and Lake Macquarie had 25.8mm, while in Sydney Terry Hills (6.6mm), Richmond (4.2mm) and Campbelltown (2.4mm) were the only areas to record significant rainfall.

SES spokeswoman Sue Pritchard said half of the calls for help were for damaged roofs and downed trees and because conditions would ease all outstanding calls for help would be dealt with on Wednesday.

The severe weather warning issued on Tuesday was cancelled at 4.30pm.

More than 150 teams, 476 volunteers, were in the field at the height of the storms with many backing up from a long week helping with the Red October bushfires in the Blue Mountains and north coast.

"A lot of teams were involved in the bushfires, 500 assisted," Ms Pritchard said.

"They're pretty keen; they do a full day's work and always have the energy and time to help someone else. Often they driver around with their gear in the car."

The SES was involved in more than 397,000 incidents in 2012-13.
