SES uses Dubbo trucking company to promote contact information - ABC News
The State Emergency Service says it is working to raise the profile of the telephone number people should call if they need help.
Four trucks belonging to a private transport company have been painted with the 132 500 number, along with images of volunteers.
The trucks were launched in Dubbo, but regularly travel throughout the state.
Macquarie SES Deputy Region Controller, Phil Lalor, says there is been some concern people do not know who to call for help during a storm or flood.
"Some studies have been done in the past," he said.
"In the last survey we did a couple of years ago the actual recognition and knowledge of the 132 500 number was quite low.
So, we have made a concerted effort to raise the awareness of that 132 500 number within the community."
He says the trucks will also raise awareness about the need for volunteers.
"We've got some images of volunteers within the NSW SES there's a job for just about everybody in the SES and with over 400 hours donated by volunteers last year we're certainly always looking for new people."
