State Emergency Service gets financial backing from retirees - The Singleton Argus
By Di Sneddon
EVEN before State Emergency Service controller Simon Merrick had the donation in his hand, he’d had the money spent.
Singleton Retired Mineworkers Association presented Mr Merrick with a cheque for $3,600 and $100 proceeds from a raffle on Friday and Mr Merrick was quick to tell the group it would be put to good use.
“We have purchased life jackets with inbuilt torches that are activated through contact with water, these devices make it safer for our members but also safer for people we are trying to assist,” Mr Merrick said.
GOOD DECISION: Singleton State Emergency Service was the recipient of proceeds from this year’s fund raising annual event by the Retired Mineworkers Association of Singleton. Local SES controller Simon Merrick is pictured (second from left) receiving a cheque from the association’s vice president Ian Paget. Also pictured (l-r) are association members David Gilmore, Bill Griffiths and Alice Muller.
