Sydney commuters were recommended to leave work early as thunderstorms, flash flooding and damaging winds lashed parts of the state today.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned of very dangerous thunderstorms near Hurstville and Kurnell, affecting Sydney City, Sydney Airport, Sydney Olympic Park and the Sydney Harbour Bridge by 8:45 pm and Parramatta, Manly and Ryde by 9:15 pm.
Destructive winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.
A spokesperson told media the public to take care as the wildest part of the New South Wales east coast's storm was expected to hit commuters.
