by | July 29, 2014

WITH the storm season having officially started and running until the end of March 2014, the NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is encouraging people living in the Central West to remember the NSW SES 132 500 number for emergency help in wild weather.

NSW SES Craig Ronan said it’s important people have the 132 500 number handy so help can be just a phone call away.

“The 132 500 NSW SES assistance phone number is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week every day of the year.

“Last year the NSW SES Operations Centre received 63,342 calls for assistance from the community on the 132 500 emergency help line,” Mr Ronan said.

“Knowing the right phone number to call when damage has occurred to your home is essential.

Central West residents are also being encouraged to take some important home maintenance steps in preparation for the storm season to limit the amount of damage suffered in severe weather.

Some other handy StormSafe tips include:

• Check your roof is in good repair.

• Prepare an emergency kit.

• Secure or put away any loose items around the yard or balcony.

• Check your insurance is up to date.

For emergency help in a flood or storm call the NSW SES on 132 500.

If the situation is life threatening dial 000 (triple zero).
