Time to get your home storm ready - The Logan Reporter

by Jim Ferguson | November 3, 2014

THE battering copped by New South Wales recently was a stark reminder that storms can strike at any time and the lesson for Logan residents is to be prepared for storm season now.

The SES is encouraging residents to do all they can to prevent damage to their property before they find themselves in need of help.

In many cases, SES call-outs could be prevented if residents had prepared their homes by clearing their gutters or checking their roof for damage before heavy periods of rainfall.

Most SES tasks are not quick jobs and often extensive work and time is required to attend to storm damage.

We ask you to remember the SES is made up of volunteers dedicated to helping others and we will always put the safety of our volunteers first during adverse weather conditions.

The best way you can help yourself and the SES is to ensure your roof and gutters are appropriately maintained ahead of the storm season.

This is a win-win for everyone - SES volunteers will be free to assist vulnerable members of the community and you can save yourself a damage bill further down the track with some routine maintenance.

Do you need the help of the SES? Phone 132500.
