Tonight: Find out how to volunteer with the Hills SES - Hills News

by | July 29, 2014

ON Saturday we had two of our crews attempted what is thought to be a world first row from Port Macquarie to Bonny Hills.

Our open mens crew and our junior mens crew left the SES boat ramp in port macquarie at 8:15am and arrived at bonny hills just before 11am. The crews had to navigate some particularly nasty surf off the bar at town beach and again on arrival at rainbow beach but both crews faired well.

They completed the 25km row in under 3 hours and were thoroughly exhausted. In a close and friendly contest it was the open mens crew who hit the beach first ahead of the junior crew. Both sweeps were impressed with their rowers attitude and endurance in the marathon training session.
