Wild weather causes blackouts, traffic delays, damage - The Leader
It has been a case of four seasons in one this week in Sydney.
Wild weather on Monday night brought power lines and trees down in St George and Sutherland Shire, causing blackouts and traffic delays.
SES Sutherland Shire unit local controller, John Gonzalez, said there were 37 requests for assistance because of minor roof damage and fallen trees including at Yarrawarrah and Menai Marketplace.
The unusual weather continued today with a cold front sweeping Sydney this morning, bringing rain and dropping temperatures.
Hail was reported in areas, including Engadine and Wolli Creek, about 10.30am.
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a top of 19 degrees for Thursday in the city, a big difference to the conditions Sydneysiders have experienced in the past few weeks.
Also the next information night on volunteering with the NSW SES Sutherland Shire Unit is on Wednesday October 9, at 730pm at 126 Wilson Parade Heathcote, phone 9548 6355.
