Worst weather in 5 years pummels NSW - Sky News

Two people are missing in floodwaters in the Hunter region as NSW is being battered by some of the wildest weather in five years

Search and rescue teams are scouring waters near Stroud, about an hour north of Newcastle with gale-force winds hampering efforts to find them.

SES deputy commissioner Steven Pearce says there has been mobile phone contact with the pair but their phone battery appears to have died.

He says it's going to take a line of sight operation to locate them.
