MILDURA businessman Terry Wright has supplied Sunraysia emergency services with wrecked cars for training and up-skilling since 1984.

Last week, Mildura State Emergency Service officially thanked Mr Wright for his support and presented him with a plaque in appreciation.

Mildura SES controller Michael Hellwege said that the support of Wright’s Auto Wreckers and its trading entity Mildura Auto Wreckers was invaluable.

“The supply of cars to assist with our road rescue training allows our unit to train new members and prepare them for assessment,” Mr Hellwege said.

“It also allows SES volunteers to maintain skills.

“We particularly thank Terry for his supply of 20 cars which will allow us to host a five-day road rescue training course in December and January.”

Just one training course was held in the region each year, which more than 20 SES branches vied to be part of.

“These 20 cars will mean seven or eight Mildura SES members can take part in the training, with 12 SES volunteers able to become accredited road rescue operators,” he said.

“This will boost the operational response capacity for the units involved and the communities they serve.”
